Supporting people in need, for 300 years.

Who are we?

The John Holford Charity has been in existence since 1712.
Our charity has significant historic assets and uses them to make donations to individuals. Over the years our support has made contributions to fighting poverty and enabling those in need or hardship to see a new and better future.
The deeds of the Trust task the charity's Trustees to:
Apply income of the Charity applicable for relieving persons in conditions of need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce the need, hardship or distress of such person.

Who are the grants for?

We operate across the area of the former Congleton Borough, including the following parishes:
Alsager, Astbury, Brereton, Church Lawton, Congleton, Eaton, Goostrey, Holmes Chapel, Hume Walfield, Middlewich, Mow Cop, North Rode, Odd Rode, Rode Heath, Sandbach, Sandbach Heath, Smallwood, Swettenham, Wheelock. We also operate in the parish of Clutton, West Cheshire.
The charity will give to individuals in need or hardship. In the past this has included white goods and furniture.
Please note, we won't give grants to eradicate debt but can signpost to organisations that can help. In the past we have made grants to debt support charities to help their work.

Supporting Families

We are able to support families with school related costs such as uniforms and school trips.

Those With Disabilities

We welcome applications from those with disabilities and, in the past, we have provided equipment to aid movement and communication.

Back To Work Training

We can fund training in order to gain employment in some circumstances.

Who can apply?

We have numbers that push us to give in our best and make sure that we break our own records. We are happy to be growing and helping more day by day.
"For over 15 Years The John Holford Trust has awarded our school a grant towards our annual year 6 residential visit. This has given many children, who have never experienced a holiday, an unforgettable experience!"
